IX5 esports points table and ranking calculation

How IX5 Event Scoring Becomes a Ranking

A scoreboard is the output of a rule set. To plan or challenge a result, competitors need to understand the points, penalties and tie-break order behind it.

Read scoring with the format. A points table, best-of series and elimination bracket can use the same game result in very different ways.

01

Identify the unit that receives points

Points may follow a game, map, series, placement, objective or round. Determine whether partial results count after a series winner is known.

Check how forfeits, byes and incomplete matches enter the table.

  • Win, draw and loss values
  • Map or objective difference
  • Placement or elimination points
  • Bonus and penalty conditions
02

Account for penalties and adjustments

Late arrival, roster violations, prohibited software or conduct can reduce points or change a result. The rules should identify the authority and process for those adjustments.

A scoreboard correction should carry a reason or event notice, especially after publication.

Follow the tie-break sequence in order

Tie-breakers may use head-to-head result, score difference, strength of schedule, a replay or another published measure. The first method that separates the teams normally ends the comparison.

Do not select the tie-break that favours your team while ignoring earlier steps.

  • Head-to-head result
  • Map or round difference
  • Total points against common opponents
  • Scheduled tie-break match
04

Review a disputed score with the raw match record

Compare the posted table with the match IDs and rule calculation. Identify the exact entry that appears wrong rather than sending only the desired ranking.

Use the review deadline and permitted evidence. Keep the final decision because later stages may seed teams from the corrected table.

Captains should also check whether the public table has already incorporated a penalty or tie-break note. A correct total can look wrong when the adjustment is displayed on a separate event notice.
